Be Kind. Feed the birds

I made pumpkin puree yesterday.  You know, so I can make pie from scratch for Thanksgiving.  Difficulties arose, no, abounded.  You see, I got out there with my big girl knife and was all ready to cut and gut and the pumpkins were frozen.  Oh, it's winter, isn't it?

And then I was going to leave the seeds out for the birds to eat, cause they are delicious, but my parents were all like, "What would you do that for?"

Because I love them.

And then I woke up today, all excited, thinking, "It's WINTER!  I love you, SNOW!!!!!!"

And then I went outside and rejoiced.  I hope Fred lives a bit longer this time.

Genesis of the Daleks

I think that Daleks are adorable.  All they really need is a doting mother to balance out their crazy-ass father.

That could be me!!!!

BestBossEVER! and I walked to Starbucks today:

"Wanna go to Starbucks?" he asked

"Of course.  Let me grab my coat."

"Yea, I would both yell at you and then not let you come if you tried to walk out the door without a coat."

And then, we got there and he got in line first and I was all ready to get out dollars to pay for my super-yummy hot chocolate when he ordered it for me.

"Uhhh..."

"What?  You wanted hot chocolate, right?"

"Yea.  I just--thanks."

And then I realized that he was opening all of the doors for me.

Damn you, universe!  Where is my non-married version of BestBossEVER! to take me on actual dates?  Just saying...I would like that very muchly.

oooo!!!!!!!!!

Favorite!K got the sub position at L!brary.  She is all excited to have dollars so that Christmas presents will not all be: "Look, I made this from Maccaronni!  and This I painted with water colors while I was baby-sitting!"

I don't know what her problem is.  My room is totally decorated with artwork from my friends.

I'm just so excited!

Why is this day going so slowly?

I made pancakes.

I did homework.

I watched a movie.

Why, dear God, why is it not 7pm yet?

Or, at least 6:30 so that I can leave the house?

Wow.  The days sure do muddle on slowly when you don't have to be in at work...

My dollars

Dear Undergraduate Institution;

I received your request for more of my dollars in the mail.  Rest assured, I will be sending you dollars at some point in my life.  This is not for the reasons that you think.  I will be sending you dollars because in your lovely brochure, you have pictures of my friends. Pomme is in a leaf, raptly paying attention.  Also, Johnny is in a leaf, playing his trumpet beautifully.  Even Provost who gave me a beer is pictured!

You are welcome.
~Me

P.S.~ Please note that my second middle initial is "F"
P.P.S.~ If you are really that desperate for dollars, perhaps you should not personally address all of these high-quality, multi-multi-multi-colored brochures.  Come to think of it, if you were that desperate for dollars, perhaps you should not be sending this to me, who has no dollars and all of my jobless peers.  Just saying.

Twilight, demystified

First, dear friends, my new favorite Karl Rahner quote:

"If I'm stuck in a pile of shit, I want someone who isn't in the same pile of shit to help me out."

Isn't theology fun?!?!?!

But, on to more pressing matters:  today at work, BestBossEVER! was in his office chuckling to himself.  "Commere!  You've gotta see this!"

I appeared in his doorway, and he looked-up, laughter-eyed and then realized something.  I think he was realizing that I am a girl.

"Wait.  How do you feel about Twilight?"

"Haaate."  I replied, thinking, of course, of the horrid books that kept on going and getting worse and the soon-to-be movie.

BestBossEVER! perked back up, saying "Okay, you read this and I will watch the desk while you read."

Toi, I hope you are enjoying this article.  I thought of you.

Awesome!SleepyMono--still working on the name, apparently--you know it's true.  All of it.

Moi and Pomme, yes, this is what Monica was reading to me in the car in Lansing.  In my defense, it is like junk-food: you never know you've eaten too much until you get sick and chuck.

You mean my copay is my taxes? That can't be right...

Dammit, Moi!

Now I kind of want to throw caution to the wind and drop out of grad school and move to Seattle!  or London...haven't quite sorted that one yet.

**sigh**

I suppose if I am going to move to a large city, I should pick one first.  What about Minsk?  There's a friends episode about that...

I supose it is just not meant to be right now.  Damn you all.

But, hey!  Who's excited for national health care?  We should take bets on when that's going to happen.  I say two years, at least.

Do you suppose that I would come running? Do you suppose I'd come at all?

So yesterday, I had a really, really crazy long day.  I worked and then we had a meeting, and I had to be on my best behavior, because my boss's boss's boss and my boss's boss's boss's boss were both at the meeting. **Did I spell "boss" right?**  And then after the meeting, I had to successfully avoid AnGrY at the WhOlEwOrLd co-worker so that she wouldn't corner me into going to the bar with her.

But the real adventure was when BestFriend came to work to chat and go to lunch with me.  Everyone thought that we were dating.  Hilarious.  Actual co-worker quotes:

"There was just a love connection"

"Well, you had matching drinks"

"You just looked so happy to see him"

and my person favorite...

"He was looking at you like he was starving and you were a pepperoni pizza!"

To answer your question:

...You know I would!  I would come running, if you'd call my name out loud.

Omg, I know her!

So, for fun, I clicked on a link that said "Confirm your Polling Place Here"

I entered my address, and Thank God, they told me that where I thought I was polling is, in fact, where I am polling.  What's creepy, however, is this screenshot--which I have altered in the interest of PRIVACY:

Take friends and neighbors to the polls

Here are some folks in your area that you can take with you when you vote.

  • Kimberly Polite

    1945 Iowa St

    Phone: ***-555-3340

  • Nathaniel Richardson

    1935 Floyd St

  • Rita Alma

    3943 Mallory Ave

    Phone: ***-555-5959

  • Linda Smith

    4001 Groveland Ave

    Phone: ***-555-6415

  • Nicole Rypma

    3832 Boone Ave

    Phone: ***-555-2046

Seriously, internet?  Seriously?  I am seething with hatred at your stupidity.  Also, why would I pick-up my neighbors to go and vote?  Do you have any idea how many of my neighbors are old and crochety?

But, on a happier note, part of my brain went "Nicole Rypma!  OMG, I totally love her!"

"Narnia and the Discarded Image" sounds good...

So, Halloween was fun!

I went to McFaddens, then headed to MOLE's and then on to Lake.  Yay!

I have already apologized to Pomme, but to Moi and Toi: I am sorry that I did not drunk dial or text you.  Apparently I was a bit...rowdy...and my phone was taken from me around 3am.  Next time, I will be quicker in action, or more cunning in the keeping of my phone.

I got some interesting mail the other day that made me say, shaking my fist in rage, "Why, AQ!  WHY?!?!"

That's right, they sent me the Spring 2009 class schedule.  Do they not realize that I graduated?  I didn't get one for the fall, so I cannot assume that they think I am not doing anything worthwhile with my life.   On the other hand, Davis! is teaching a Narnia classs...

I've been bummed for a bit.  Don't know why.  The holidays are coming.  I can't wait for SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moi, if you get some first, will send me some?  PLEASE?!?!?!?!?!?!??!
