Long time coming

I went to the opera last night. Samson and Delilah. It was incredibly boring. And I say that as someone who enjoys going to the opera. It was 2 hours spread over 3 acts and it could have been done in 15-20 minutes. It was not terribly stimulating musically. The lead female role is written for a Mezzo-soprano, so it is one of those where I sit through it thinking "I could sing this sitting down with my legs crossed hung-over." The ballet dancers did a nice job. And the chorus did a fantastic job. It was a massive chorus, considering that there were only 2.5 leads. In other news, I started-up a QuizBowl team at the high school. Did I tell you guys that I am only at the good high school now? That is exciting. I am very excited about QuizBowl. I was actually kind of nervous at first, because I was not sure if any one would come. It is a rather dorky pursuit, after all. As I waited, anticipating, I reassured myself that you only need 4 people for a team. Surely four people will turn up. I got fourteen. Bam!
