Life will find a way

I got to sit at the big girl desk at work today. It went well. I was able to help everyone find that for which they were looking. Some guy came in asking about tax forms, so I directed him to the lobby where they are stored...he came back saying "The form I'm looking for is not there."
Aussie: For what form are you looking?
RichPatron: The 1099. It's a common form.
Aussie: {thinking} I've never heard of that form. . .
Aussie: I'm sure we can find it online for you!
And I did! Go me!

And someone else asked me how many miles it was from Los Angeles to Hawaii and I had the good sense to ask them if it was as the crow flies, or nautical miles.

Yay!

Also, Love is indeed alive.  See for yourself.

She forgot the Daleks.

I'm sure you've all seen this, because you have far more time to squander than I do...or you choose to squander far more time on the internet...not sure which.

Sicut cervus

I was all sad and lonely today. I went to visit BestBossEVER! at otherbranchofpunishment. I brought him muffins, which made him all happy. It makes me feel better about my life that he always seems happy to see me.

I had Schola rehearsal today! Yay! The sections got moved around a bit, because someone moved back and wanted to come back to the choir and someone else came back from having been pregnant and having her baby, so the soprano section was too big. That means that Megan got moved down to Alto! Yay! She can sight read very well and has a nice tone, as opposed to the other altos who are either super quiet or super abrasive. Ugh.

Hate being an alto. It pains me.

ooo! ooo! And I'll be singing at Mass at the Cathedral the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month now, so if you need your Aussie fix, tune in!

Teehee.

Pomme! Sorry I didn't answer when you called. I miss you bunches, come be my friend. Or I'll come be your friend.

Sunshine

I feel very alone.

I really like this song:

Homecoming

is this weekend at Drexel.

Like...right now.

I could be going home.

They would invite me to come.

I want to go home.

"It was only a matter of time before the internet came up with its own answer to crack cocaine: facebook."

Friday night's birthday-related festivities were fun.  I was pleased to see people that I would otherwise never see, like LB and !!Ann!! and MOLE!

Toi, I am so, so glad that we didn't drink any of that "wine".  I got home and was very thankful for that good life choice.

Pomme, I was super bummed that you weren't there.  I missed you bunches!  Let's be friends soon.  I could even come over/down/up/to the place where you are if you'd like.

I am avoiding school work as though it were an occupation.  And I've avoided work so effectively and efficiently on Facebook, that there is nowhere for my time-squandery ratings to go but down!  Oh noes!!

My natural recourse, then?  To start from scratch.  You see, wikiHow is on my iGoogle page, and I couldn't help but notice that, as though through divine intervention in solving my life quandries, one of the featured pages was How to Defeat a Facebook Addiction.

Clearly, my new direction in life to to defeat facebook, and then readdict myself.  Bwahaha.

P.S.~ Sock puppet video at the bottom of the page: totally worth your 1:24

Aussie names everything...

Eleanor refuses to run Check Disk.  I am furious at her.  Does this mean that there is something tragically wrong with her?

In other news, there is no blue Monday in your Sunday clothes.

Feindishly clever plan failes

Okay, so I tried to trick you all into being my friends by sucking you into drama that has nothing to do with you, and it didn't work!

I am at a loss!

Are you certian that you are Americans?

In other news, should I apply for job I don't really really want, but would get more money for and would technically be a step up, even though it's not in the complete direction of what I want to do with my life, or should I wait it out.  And cry a little.

In other, nondramatic work-related news, I hate this manager sharing bit.  PunishmentBranch gets too much BestBossEVER! time and it makes me sad.  I think I see him a total of 4 hours a week--and that's 4 hours of working, so it's really like 12 minutes. It's stupid.  How is he supposed to supervise his staff if he never sees them, the unaddressed problems (not that I have any) or the untrumpetted successes?  Am I expected to gloat and whine for the 12 minutes according to how the previous week went?  Okay, so maybe that was a bit dramatic.

Okay, seriously, nondramatic work-related news: AuntieV is my favortie.  She makes me smile.  And stuff.

AwesoMMMe, I don't know if I'm coming on Friday or not...but I love you!  And I have a present for you!

Dear four people who read this blog:

Do you actually *read* this blog?  Because I'm posting at a record high volume and I have but one commment for the entire year.  I am tragically sad.  Tragically.  I suppose that my boring life is and its corresponding blog is of little or no consequence; perhaps you have no time for such trivial matters that bear no real consequence on your life, perchance your link has broken.

But, no.  In any of these cases, I have but one plausible recourse: to stop telling you about my boring life, and simply relate work-related drama.  It will be like the Office, Library edition: the Blog.

Awkward!Toby is trying to befriend my brother.  At least, that what I have come to believe.  His unnatural interest in FauxRockBro and his "band" is, well, unnatural, as well as occuring in unnaturally high levels.  He has a puppy--well, it's his mother's really--that reminds me of a tribble.  Must look into this further.

MissM is a dating machine.  She has had 5 dates in the past week.  One guy is the brother of a friend, so she feels that she should go on more than just one date.  People pitch her as a potential date by saying "Do you wanna go on a date with MissM?  She has big boobs."  It's true--on both counts.  One of her dates was dinner and bowling.  MissT asked "Are you in high school?" And without giving MissM a chance to properly show or respond to her indignation, I asked: "Are you wearing cute butt pants?  Cause bowling is just a way for him to stare at your ass all night without you or your mom being able to scold or slap him for it."

$port's face/head was photoshopped onto the body of Robin.  Great picture.  So many jokes...
After printing off a full color copy.
StiffNeck: Where should we hang this?
MissT:  Where should we not?
ATeam: I'm thinking every staff door.
Me: I'm thinking the windows...
MissT: Does he have a girlfriend we can email this to?
Me: I can post it on the campuswide forum site.

Love!
~me

P.S. ~ If you would like your own copy of Robin $port, let me know and I'll email it to you.

It's a Marshmallow World in the winter when the snow comes to cover the ground!

**Note: This was supposed to be posted around 11pm Sunday January 11, but to no avail.  Blogger, what have I ever done but love you?!?!

My backyard looks like this:

And despite my best efforts, I have yet to succeed in wishing it into this:

So, as a reward for getting this coming week's homework done--go me!  I rock solid.--I went for a walk down this path.

I quickly realized that no matter how adventurous you are feeling, if you're not wearing boots, a snow-laiden path is a bad life choice.

Next year, I think I will decorate Linus with some tasteful silver and white lights so that he will know the true meaning of Christmas.  Just look at all that room for presents!

Scholarly literature

Here I sit, innocently doing my homework like a good girl.  Yes, I have better things to do on a Friday night, but I must have these things done that I might frolick with AwesoMMMe come Saturday night.  The things we do for friends.

In any event!  Innocently studying, reading assigned articles and chapters from texts.  I get to one of the articles that I had printed to save my poor eyes (on recycled paper, of course! no worries!) and I look at the author.  Steven J Bell.  That name sounds familiar.  Perhaps, I muse, in my various studies from last term, as well as leisurely reading in ALA periodicals and the like, I have stumbled across the name before...

OMG!!!1 I am so excited!!!!!!!  I am learning the prominent names of writers in my discipline!  Yay for me!

Oh, wait.  No.  douche-bag.  What kind of pompous prof assigns you reading that *they* wrote.  Just give it to me in  lecture.  Don't lecture me and then make me read an article that your lecture was based on.  Grrr.

I would like to go home now.

Day four of classes sees me finally realizing the organizational potential that I desire for this term.  3 out of 4 classes did not have a structured syllabus.  This made it difficult for me to make a callendar of due dates.  Silly professors.

It Christmas snowed today, which makes me happy, though people driving like idiots sure can take wind out of my sails.  Seriously--cutting me off is a bad enough idea but doing it in the snow where I cannot brake--genius, pure genius other driver.

I have the distinct need to go home as of late.  It is an odd feeling to desire home when there is no home you can go to.

For those of you keeping score, my new favorite snack is Wheat Thins with Cream Cheese.

Define

"Field of vision"  If I can see it, doesn't that mean that the crack on my windshield is in my field of vision.  I vote yes, because then insurance will pay for a new windshield.

"Best Friend"  If you seldom call me back, we are no longer best friends.  Just because you introduce me as such does not mean that we are best friends.

"Boss"  If you don't get paid more than I do, I am relatively certain that you are *not* my boss.

"Plans"  That was an awesome album!  Oh...not the Death Cab "Plans"...well, this is awkward.

"Intelligent"  No, I actually don't evaluate upon acquaintance whether I deem myself more intelligent than the person I have just encountered, although you seem to have done that for me.  You can stop making a spectacle of me now.

:: cricket ::

I feel like this is the quiet before the storm.  My goal fo rthis term is to do my homework within 48 hours of its assignment (ususally I have a week, which results in me doing it 37 seconds before it is due...oops).  I feel that this work ethic will behoove me in many ways: a) I will have more time to complete and check over my course work before its submission; b) I will be more in control of my schedule; c) unforseen circumstances--such as the end of term shenanigans from the previous term--will not be as detrimental; d) when all is said and done, I will have more play time!

Of course, I realize that this theory will not pan-out for long-term projects, but in general, this should really help my stress levels to lower this term!

In other, far more exciting news, Penni Lane's windshield has a large crack along the lower area almost clear across that appeared overnight.  Zawhat!  I am reading my insurance policy to see if it has to be in my line of sight for them to replace it free of charge.  Yay for not having PLPD!

For seriouses?!?!

Really?

Really!

Ugh.

Really.

So, after a hard day of work, toil, and general disorder at the libe, I am chill-laxing.

Rum-nog in hand, music playing, chatting away on Gchat, I checked my email.  All 4 accounts.  (yay!)

When I got to iSchool's account, I quietly died inside.  2 out of 4 classes have already emailed me homework.  So that I can get a leg-up before Blackboard is up when classes start on Monday.  I'm sorry, but in what other academic sphere would this be okay?  I am on break and have been assigned homework for classes that I have yet to begin.

In happier thoughts, $port yelled at me today for working too much.  We really are friends!  Also, I have successfully avoided the plague that has been going around at work.  Go me!

Happy New Year!!!!

Moi ::Throws confetti::
MMM:  Hurray!!
Pomme ::Blows a festive, pop-out horn::
Toi ::ringing s bell, merrily:: You guys! It's 2009!  Nine, like, almost ten!

I wish we were all together, but, well, you can't have everything.

It's been an eventful year for sure, but I am happy to see it go in many respects.  I have not made any New Year's resolutions just yet, but I shall let you know when I do, that you might hold me to them.

But, for now, something that means increasingly more to me every year:

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne
we'll take a cup of kindness yet
for auld lang syne.
